Meet Your Instructor

Niyati came to yoga with a desire to connect further with all aspects of the practice and for the love of mentorship and teaching. She views postural practices as a means to meditate. Niyati completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at JP Centre Yoga in Boston under the direction of Daniel Max with a focus on yoga philosophy and social justice. Through yoga teacher training, Niyati learned how focused meditation (dharana) on postures could translate to stillness and meditation (dhyana) as a daily practice. The diverse group of co-trainees, mentors, and teachers in the training inspired Niyati to find her unique voice and platform as a yoga practitioner and teacher. As a teacher, Niyati invites her students to use yoga as a means to move inward through the sheaths of our being to our inner knowing. She incorporates alignment cues, yogic philosophy, and Sanskrit words into her classes as a way to reconcile yoga’s ancient tradition with the adapted Western practice. Ultimately, she wishes her students to be left with a sense of equanimity and joy that can transcend beyond the mat.
